The process for application for applicants who did not acquire their Bachelor's Degree in the Federal Republic of Germany is as follows:

a) Submit documents at uni-assist (https://my.uni-assist.de/).

Uni-assist will check them and return a preliminary inspection documentation (in German: Vorprüfungsdokumentation, VPD), which contains information regarding an applicant's entitlement to study in Germany. The VPD then has to be submitted at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt.

  • !!! Attention: In case your relevant pre-studies were acquired in China, India or Vietnam you need an APS certificate in order to apply at uni-assist!!!'

    Additional information for applicants with a Bachelor's degree from India: 

    Master Test (dMAT)
    Please note:

    Effective immediately, master's degree applicants from India who have acquired their bachelor's degree in the fields of Engineering, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business and Management must submit the Digital Master Test (dMAT) to obtain a visa or an APS certificate. For a more detailed overview of the affected bachelor's degree programs, please see here.

    Costs: € 150. Registration is now open.
    This regulation applies to applicants who wish to begin a master's degree program in Germany in the summer semester 2027; i.e. you must register by September 15, 2026, and take the test on September 26, 2026, at one of the 10 test locations. Exception: Applicants who registered for the APS before June 29, 2026.


    29 June 2026: Registration dMAT starts
    15 September 2026: Registration deadline dMAT
    26 September 2026: dMAT test date
    12 October 2026: Certificate available


    Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt cannot answer any questions regarding the content or procedure of the test. Please contact the 
    appropriate office directly for this matter.

Deadlines for applications for the summer term: We recommend submitting the documents at uni-assist until 5th of December as the VPD then has to be submitted at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt until 15th of January at the latest.


b) Apply online at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (https://www3.primuss.de/cgi-bin/bew_anmeldung/index.pl). 

The application period for the summer term (starting 15th of March) is from 15th of November to 15th of January.

There you will have to upload all the necessary documents including your VPD. You can still upload documents within the respective periods (there will be deadlines per document in the upload area) after you sent your application online (there is no need to send hardcopies for an application).


The requirements of the course are

  • Proof of successful completion of a course of study at a German university with at least 180 ECTS credit points or equivalent in the field of economics, engineering and natural sciences, or an equivalent successful domestic or foreign degree
  • Proof of sufficient knowledge of the English language (language level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference): list of accepted English language proficiencies
  • Proof of knowledge of German at language level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages until the end of the first semester (see list of accepted German language proficiencies); Enrolment is conditional until successful proof is provided, i.e., you will get admission. If you don't submit a proof of German A1 till the end of the first semester you can't continue the program.
For applicants outside the EU and outside the EEA states: Successful completion of the orientation and selection process. Please take note of our Statutes for International Orientation and Selection Procedures
  • Documented proof of practical experience in the field of economics, engineering and natural sciences. 
  • GRE General Test (optional) 
  • Work Sample: Short Essay (600 Words +/- 10%) in which you adress the following three Questions : Which sustainability challenge do you deem most relevant to address in your future professional activities?  How would you like to address it in your future professional activities?  Which past experiences (personal, professional or academic) will  support you in this endeavour? Why?

For shortlisted cadidates, selection interviews will be conducted in January/February. The faculty will contact you by e-mail regarding the date for a selection interview in case you are among the shortlisted candidates. 


Application period for the summer term (starting mid of March) will be from October 15th to January 15th.

The semester fee for all students is 82 Euro per semester. Costs for living are about 900 Euros per month.

The tuition fee for citizens outside the EU and outside the EEA states is 1,200 Euros per semester.
