Thank you for your interest in our Master-program "International Automotive Engineering".
Information about the content of the study program can be found on the program's webpage.
Webpages describe the application procedure for master applicants in general and especially for applicants from abroad.
The requirements for the Master-program are:
- proof of successful completion of a degree programme at a German university with at least 180 ECTS credit points or equivalent in an engineering or natural science discipline or computer science or an equivalent German or foreign degree
Successful completion of the orientation and selection process applicable to the respective degree programme is mandatory: a copy of the cover sheet, a summary (abstract) and an outline of the thesis for the assessment of knowledge of the methods of independent scientific work and experience in the field of engineering problem solving
- proof of knowledge of English at language level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (see list of accepted English language proficiencies)
- proof of knowledge of German at language level A1 of the
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (see list of accepted German
language proficiencies)
Please note:
The proof of German language skills at language level A1 must be submitted by the end of the first semester at the latest.
Enrolment is conditional until successful proof is provided, i.e., you will get admission. If you don't submit a proof of German A1 till end of semester 1 you can't continue the program.
GRE is not required. The selection of the applicants for admission is based on grades and the results of the orientation and selection process (see the program's webpage).
The requirements listed above may also be changed for the coming application period, so please inform yourself again on our website before you apply.
Applicants who did not acquire their Bachelor's Degree in the Federal Republic of Germany must apply in two steps:
- Submit degree documents at uni-assist (https://my.uni-assist.de/).
Uni-assist will check them and return a preliminary inspection documentation (in German: Vorprüfungsdokumentation, VPD),
which contains information regarding an applicant's entitlement to study in Germany. Then, the VPD has to be submitted at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt in step 2.
Application at uni-assist is possible during
the whole year, you don't have to wait for the application period to start.
!!! Attention: In case your relevant pre-studies were acquired in China,
India or Vietnam you need an APS certificate in order to apply at
uni-assist!!!
Deadlines for applications must be met:
- in case of an application for the summer term
we recommend submitting the documents at uni-assist until 5th of December as the VPD then has to be submitted at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt until 15th of January at the latest. - In case of an applications for the winter term
we recommend submitting the documents at uni-assist until 1st of June as the VPD then has to be submitted at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt until 15th of July at the latest.
- Apply online at the application portal of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt.
The application period for the summer term (starting 15th of March) is from 15th of November to 15th of January.
The application period for the winter term (starting 1st of October) is from 2nd of May to 15th of July.
There you will have to upload all the necessary documents including your VPD. You can still upload documents within the respective periods (there will be deadlines per document in the upload area) after you sent your application online (there is no need to send hardcopies for an application).
Important Information for Applicants from Third Countries:

- application period for the summer term (starting mid of March) will be from November 15th to January 15th.
- application period for the winter term (starting beginning of October) will be from May 2nd to July 15th.
- you always have to apply online (https://www3.primuss.de/cgi-bin/bew_anmeldung/index.pl)!
- the student service fee is 82 Euros per semester. Cost for living is ca. 900 Euros per month.
- the tuition fees for citizens outside the EU and outside the EEA states is 1200 Euros per semester.
